Post subject: | Sore backs: how to improve back support for HobieCat?? |
I just bought a new Getaway with wings at the Toronto Boat Show. This is my 2nd Hobie. My question is if anyone has looked into methods to seat the passenger who has significant lower back pain? I want our new boat to be a great experience for my better half but am concerned that wings may not provide adequate back support. Anybody seen anything like a chair arrangement that could be easily adapted for the purpose? Apprecaite your thoughts. Maybe some of the medical folks out there might have a comment on bad knees and backs visa-vis Hobie's? Bob...east of Toronto...and buried in snow |

You might want to check out the TrapSeat: here They're made for the Hobie 16, but they might be easily adapted to the Getaway. |

Post subject: | some other ideas Canoe Seat |
Hi Bob! As I have said often: necessity is the mother of invention. Oh wait, that was Benjamin Franklin Anyway, you got me thinking. I use something like this in my canoe. I bet it would strap onto a wing as well as it straps around the seat in a canoe. There are many different styles. Check out other links on this page. http://www.campmor.com/webapp/wcs/store ... d=12500226 Campmor has a great return policy if it doesn't work. Someday I'll tell the story of how a solid ash axe-handle from Sears, for $6.50, was used to replace a $45 tiller from the Marine supply store. Oh wait that IS the story Good luck from one whose significant other also suffers the same malady. Stephen- also buried in snow in the Finger Lakes. |
