Hi All -

Over the past 40 years I have been keeping and adding hardware to me Hobie Sailboat inventory. Now that I am almost 60 and looking to downsize, I thought that I had gotten rid of everything. Well, not the case. I found a tote that has all the rigging and hardware from a 1980's Hobie 16, a 1990's Hobie 18 and a 1970's Phoenix. This tote weighs a ton so I am sure shipping would be outrageous. Also, I do not have time to sort and list it all for sale.

Do I just remove the important piece like Blocks, Trapeze links, etc and scrape the rest? Oh, I should add that I am in Indianapolis. Not exactly the sailing capital of the world.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Mark

Are there any hobie fleets in your area? There would probably be someone interested in what you have if so

How about you sort the stuff.....
one box of H16 parts
one box of H18 parts
one box of other.
Then lay the components of each box out on the driveway or deck, take pictures, and post them under the FOR SALE section of this Forum.

There are many in CRAM up in western Michigan that would love to have the gear. We have a rapidly growing fleet of older H16's being raced on a budget and would share parts with anyone trying to make a go of it!

I bet there would be someone here that could use what you've got. Sorting it and taking/posting photos would certainly be a great way of finding some takers, but that all takes time, of course. I think the question is, how much do you want to see it all put to good use? If it's just too much work, I don't think anyone will blame you for scrapping some. I tend to be a hoarder of things, so that's easier said than done!

Try Eagle Ocean in Indy. Maybe the fleet is still there.
