Post subject:  getting a comp tip?

I was wondering if hobie is still doing the comp tip replacement. I called my local dealership and they said they were not doing it anymore and i would have to pay the full retail price

Post subject:  CompTip program?

Coleman Company was the owner of Hobie Cat back in the mid 1980's when the CompTip program was started. They maintained the program through two more owners of Hobie Cat (over 15 years). The current owners have no liability for the older boats. Coleman discontinued the program several years ago. In an effort to soften the blow when having to do a retrofit, you can order a CompTip from a dealer or direct from Hobie Cat for retro-fit use. Hobie Cat encourages dealers to pass the retro-fits through at their cost, but dealers are not obligated, in any way, to do so.

The cost of the tips are between 2 and 3 hundred dollars when used for retro-fit.

Post subject:  comp tip

Why would you want to get rid of solid aluminum mast? your not planning on running into any power lines are you? I thought comptip masts were not as rigid as solid alumimum hence a better rake with a solid mast..... If I am wrong with that assumption please correct me.(ignorance may be bliss but, its not best.)

as an after thought, is your mast replacement due to meet race regulations?
