How old is your rigging, there have been a lot of post about having shrouds break, clevis pins failing, ring dings giving out. I would like for everyone to please check your rigging on your boat, if it is in anything but great condition replace it immediately. Think of it as a bad tire on a car, if one is worn out more than likely all of them need to be change, this is also true with sailboat rigging. I know coming from a dealer this sounds like a nice way to make some money, I don't care where you get your rigging as long as it is in good condition so everyone can sail and be safe! As with most Hobie Cat dealers I am not out to make huge amounts of money from this sport, simply provide service when needed to keep this wonderful sport we all have grown to love alive and well. Heed Brad's advice. Not only is it safe sailing, but I had a shroud unravel at the start of a great day and had the whole day ruined while we scrambled to find a replacement. Keep spares of things which wear out or are easily lost - i.e. pins, shakles, ring dings, life jackets, battens. Sure, replacement parts are readily available, but lost time isn't. |

What Brad said-  Especially if you sail way offshore on Great Lakes or oceans.
It is a real scary and ultimately dangerous thing to be over the horizon and be dismasted because of equipment failure

I have a Tiger and would like to replace the rigging each year and not goas much as two years on it. It only cost around $200 for the whole stack. I used to sail a Miracle and had the same rules. If you think this is too much I hope to see you at the finish line. Later, Dan |
