I just bought an H16 at an auction. I have a sail number of 928 and a Hull number of 1155. Can anyone tell me how old this boat might be? Also, any pictures of how the jib sheet gets rigged? I think I have it correct but am new to cats...no where near the same as a monohull. Also, I'm not sure I have the mast rake correct. The jib battons were hitting the mast when tacking. Is this normal, or do I need to tighten up the forstay, or downhaul on the main? Any and all advice would be appreciated.

Thanks, Steven.

A picture would help here. Is the hull number on the transom, or stamped into the front pylon? If it's on the front pylon, then it's a very early '70s boat (probably '71). Sail numbers are not reliable predictors of age.

The jib overlaps the mast - it's normal for the battens to hit the mast.

It's on the pylon. Thanks, I thought it was that vintage. Went out for the first sail last friday and the tramp began to rip. She's been neglected. Sorry, I can't seem to get a pic to take in here. Appreciate the jib tip, good to know it's not in my rigging.
