Its winter and for many sailing ismovermfor a while. I just stumbled onto something that has been around for a couple years... How ever... As up on the latest cool stuffnthat i am, i never heard about it. So i want ed to share here as i would have loved to know about this myself long ago.

Its called. Sail simulator 5. I ordered from amazon and its not here yet, but there is a demo that i downloaded. Its free... And its nothing short of amazing. Demo comes with on a lazer... But the dlx version i ordered has. 17 boats i think is the count. Im excited tomtry the hobie 16 as that is what I sail and i own 3 of them.

Anyway... The feel and realism is unbelievable.
In the demo you can also multiplayer and race on courses. I have never raced real boats other than my 3 together, butnit was really easy to pick up and do.

Its pretty cheap at around 29.00 for dlx version. If you want to sail and race this winter check it out. I think the company is. Stentek or something like that. They have a forum, but its not very active. Racers are on the server to link up with. Do a google for it and check it out. What sold me was the youtube videos... Watch it in action, but you can't feel it until you are at the helm.

Merry CHristmas

I've been trying to get the demo for tht and it keeps, bombing out. Free? I thought the demo was free like the sail simulator online demomis free... But isn't themfull ssk5 a buy for the full thing? From watching the demos on you tube, sial sim looks superioir... But if ssk is free worth getting too.

My full vers of sail sim came today from amazon and i,sailed a h 16. And tiger today

Ailing physics are superior in. Sail simulator 5
The boats don't move as naturally through water in v skipper.

Plus ss5 has hobie 16. And hobie tiger!

I take that back. I hadn't seen virtual skipper 5

I payed it for 5hours today, and while no hobies... It was a blast and equally as good as sail sim.

Both must haves... They don't really compete as they so different.

I just got myself Sail Sim 5. I dig it. The hobies are awesome.
One thing that sucks though is there is no one online hardly at all to race with!?
I totally suck but its not much fun sailing around by myself!
Race night???

Post subject:  Re: Sail simulator

I always find people on to race with, but i often just go into a pratice area.
If you wanna link up. Im available most times.... You're 4? Hours behind me so you're 7pm is my 11pm. When im on at 5 or so you at work? Email we can link up.

[email protected]

I wish i could change the hobie to my sail colors on my fav boat here at home.
My virtual sailor dvd just came... Its cool too... More active on their forum and in races. But its larger boats you race from above. Where if you're a hobie fan sail sim is the one. I love the tramp view... If only it supported. TrackIR.

I like the Extreme 40 cats, multis, rc44 is good too.
Melges is fun on a tight course too!

Ill shoot you an email.

I thought that too... But that builds excitement. I do prefer the cats and trihulls.

I was on the other night and lots of people on sailing sim... But its rare to find races with hobies. Most are the laser. There are some practice sessions with hobies and i've had two others join me while in there. I suppose i'd have to create a hobie race and see if anyone joins.

In the sim the tiger and h16 jib controls are differnt. Is it that way on real boats?

The sim also has be thinking about adding a spinnaker to one of my real boats, but i don't unstand how they work. Like when lowered... Where does it go?

I am "oregonwave" on VSK and "Hobiesrock" on Sail Simulator.
I really wish Sail sim had a pen system like VSK. I think it would be much more popular then!!

Post subject:  Re: Sail simulator

I downloaded sail simulator 5 and it is by far the most piss poorly designed aggravating pile of garbage Ive ever tried to interact with.

1: its starts me out on a a laser which capsizes withing 5 seconds of starting the session if you do not take drastic action. Really user friendly to somebody unfamiliar with this bizarre, esoteric and ass backwards control system.

2: pressing ESC does not pause the game, or bring up a menu .. instead it instantly ends the session, causing you to start completely over.

Not much more to be said.

Virtual skipper 5 has virtually no support from the company (read the forums) and is buggy as all hell.

lol...SS5 takes some getting used to. It is fun once you get the hang of it. I am not a fan of anything but the cats though!
VSK5online...not sure about the bugs...its worked fine for me. I just have the free version. Makes you wait 10 min to play after you play a certain amt of times...but thats no biggie. I just fire up game and go surfing for a while. Or just leave it run in the background.

i've got the paid version and up dates for vsk5, no real problems with it... the racing can be good somedays and not other... usually depends who else is online.
