I would guess the majority of Hobie's customer base is anglers.

Hell I didn't know a Hobie had anything to with sailing until I started searching for a catamaran. All I knew is they made heavy as hell kayaks that I hated helping people portage

Not at all, but a nice business segment. Sailing and recreational kayaking still rule. In fact... the Hobie Mirage Island kayaks are the number one selling small sailboats in the World! We sell thousands of sail kits for the kayaks too. We are building sailing back up from the base.

Wingnutt :

Shhhh, thats a closely guarded secret that the AI/TI Island boats give fishermen a huge advantage over everyone else doing kayak fishing. They can go out further, into heavier conditions, and much faster than anything else out there. If everyone knew about them, we would lose our huge advantage over everything else in the water. Lets just keep it on the down low.

Just found this thread - hope I can watch the old episodes. This is a great idea. So much on TV is all the same and there are almost no hobby shows except for woodworking on PBS.

Well.... so far all the programming is focused on Hobie Kayak fishing. This is good for fishermen and the boats are very good, but it looks like Hobie sailing will not be featured. This is not an issue for me,as I do my fishing out of a Lund, my extra money goes into my Hobiecat sailboats. The company needs to make money, and the fishing and sailing kayaks are a great way to do that.

They have started the series with footage that was "in the can" and more easily produced into shows. I have been told that there will be segments on Cat sailing, Island sailing, Hobie Worlds in the future.
