Just wondering where those who take a paddle with them, choose to keep it. And how did you attach it to your boat?

On the Hobie 21 SE I tie to top lacing and do the same on a Hobie 16 and 14
Going out in the surf or in tight quarters I keep it ready and handy for crew to use Hope this helps
The extendable handle models work well on the smaller cats

On my H16 and H17Sport, I keep a full sized wood paddle in the center lacings (paddle end aft). Since I do most of my sailing in a current (Columbia River) having a good handy paddle on board is essential. I can grab it by reaching under the rear cross beam and pulling. It is out of the way, but easy to access. An added benifit is that it helps keep the sheets on the tramp. On the down side there is a ridged center to my tramp (but I found this not a problem since laying on the lacing is uncomfortable anyway.

So, one under the tramp in the center laces and one on top of the tramp in the center laces, is that correct? Do you weave it through or just spot tie it?

Just one paddle under the tramp, woven into the center laces, but accessed by reaching under the rear cross bar. The lacing is enough to keep it in place. NOTE: I had a second set of grommets added to the center line (so the grommet spacing is similiar to those along the rear) and that could effect how the paddle is held into place.

I'd recommend Railblaza GHolds for this:

I have a small plastic telescoping paddle. Drilled a small hole in the blade and have short piece of rope with figure 8 knot on one side and very small loop (bowline) on other side. Have small carabiner through loop and then can clip around anything - typically tramp webbing.

If you have an H18, use the dagger board. Anything else remove the rudders!!!!!!!!!!!!

I poke them through the elastic lacing on the wing seat covers on my Getaway, one for each side. Use them at night a lot when the wind has died and we are just out fishing.

I have a small, 3 1/2' wooden caviness paddle that I strap to the boom of my H18 with two strips of 2-sided Hobie velcro wrap.
