Say what?! A 72 foot cat with foils? Have fun figuring out how sail that unruly beast.

I think this is how future of sailing will look like. Actually pretty soon I guess.

The Kiwis have figured out how to sail an AC72 with foils so well they gybe while foiling.

I'm not worthy.

From personal experience I can say that tacking on foils is more difficult than gybing on foils. You have enough speed to carry you on across in a gybe but in a tack it's awfully easy to set the boat back down. With enough speed the apparent wind is always forward, but staying on the foils while tacking remains tough. I sure haven't come close to perfecting it or even being halfway good at it.
