Post subject:  Improvement for boat lifts

Whats up?, for my Engineering project im working on creating a boat lift designed specifically for catamarans and wanted to get some inpout from the people who use them. If you could take this extremely short google survey I would really appreciate your help:

done, good luck with your project. I'm curious if anyone here uses lifts on a regular basis. Can you describe where such a lift would be used? e.g. boatyard/marina?

Lots of people have boats on inland lakes with private shoreline. Myself included. I use a simple pair of H racks augured into the bottom in about 18" of water.

I use a wooden ramp for my boat. It originally was used for a sea plane, so my boat can easily sit there all season without any issues.

I've used other wooden ramp type dock setups too and they were a bit farther from the water, so I had all sorts of issues with ramming it or scraping along the side of it to get to shore so I could lift the front up and drag it on shore.

The nice thing about having wood right to the water, is that I can simply drive up... the downside is that I slide backwards off it sometimes and end up in the lake if I miss the dock when jumping off the front. (that has only happened to me once and my wife once)

**Edit: added another pic of the boat on the ramp... and that is a friends' daughter, not my wife in the lower pic. ;)
