HELP! For many years, I competitively raced yachts on the Great Lakes. We had beer can holders hanging form the stanchion lines... really nice for the apres race. Anything out there for my H16? It would be really nice to be able to drive the boat with a decent breeze and not have to ask my kid to hold my beer when needing to adjust my mainsail. Thanks.

There used to be little plastic cups to screw into the corner castings to hold a can. A huggie will keep one upright until hull flying conditions. Try a piece of Velcro on the casting and the bottom of the huggie.

We used to bend the pop tops around the shrouds. I vaguely remember a stack close to a foot long at the end of the season.

Thinkin one of those could be made to work. Use one on my streetbike...no beer there but it does not spill a drop of whatever I put in it!

I've heard someone say that these:

(go Colts!)
work well to hang beers from your trap lines. I guess they use the ring on the zipper to hang them. I'm not sure the exact logistics but I assume you hang it off your trap hooks. Wouldn't work in trapping conditions but in low winds you would have 2 beers on each tack! 8)

Finally, this topic has come up.. and it's an important one! I've only had a beverage other than water, ONE time on my Hobie.. and it was made possible because I met up with a friend at a swimming area who had his power boat out and he supplied the goods from his cooler.

I generally just take a water bottle with a clip that holds it to the tramp... but it gets warm way too fast.

Cooler options would be nice to see as well. I suppose a small bag cooler could clip to the tramp just as easily.

My wife is looking to have wine out there... not sure that is really possible without using those cheapy wines in sample bottles and drinking right from the bottle.

An Igloo Playmate cooler works pretty good. You can bungie cord them through the handle slot and leave it tied down while you open the lid.

Might need a chinstrap for use on the trap...

I strap a playmate cooler to the front end of my H18 wing with two web straps (threaded through the lacing to keep it from sliding back). It works well until you fly high enough to bury the wing in the water then it generates a lot of drag.

As for a drink holder I have had limited success with a suction cup holder that sucks onto the top of the hull (smooth area only) near the rear crossbar.

I just hold mine in my teeth.....get a sip every time I check the telltails.

My friend has a couple of koozies "sewn" into his tramp lacing somehow.

I lucked out on purchasing a parts boat for cheap. Had a OEM looking cooler holder on the front. Easily holds a twelve pack with lots of ice :0)
I suppose I could rig up a "Y" hose with a on/off valve and have a cold sip or two at any time!
Looks like a sturdy wire frame that mounts to the dolphin striker area. Didn't someone make and sell tons of those on the 70's and 80's?

The cooler racks are awesome. Luv mine. May whip some up this winter as its NLA depending on interest?

I'm in for one.

Check out page 21 of the Spring 2012 part catalog, there are sew in cupholders listed in the bottom right corner for $16.99. Cut a hole in the tramp wherever you want it and have a local upholstery shop stitch it in place.

I tried some of these solutions, but none work that great. Two years ago I found the L'il Sucker (www.lilsucker.com) and have been very happy with them. They only work on a vinyl tramp, but we have used them in 20 mph with no problems.
