Post subject:  First Div 9 Newsletter - Who wants on my email list?

I just released the first informal Division 9 Newsletter. I'm announcing this outside of the Div 9 portion of the Hobie racing section to help ensure that anybody who might want one knows about it. Even if you live outside of Div 9, if you think you'd come down south to sail with us, I'd like for you to have one. If you'd like a copy of the newsletter, send me an email to [email protected] and I'll forward one to you.

The highlights are that Fleet 53 is reactivating in Charleston, SC, and they are having their first regatta on the weekend of June 14-16. Farther down the calendar, we have our first HCA Points Regatta in years, the Div 9 Hobie 16 Championship, scheduled for Sept 7-8 as part of Cat Fest on Lake Norman, NC. The NOR is included in the newsletter.

I plan to race in Charleston with Fleet 53 and at Cat Fest / Div 9 Hobie 16 Championship. I hope to see some of you at these events.

Email sent. Put me on the list. I think this is great. As a Kansas sailor it is unlikely I will maake one of your events, but I do travel for work and play often enough you just never know.

Besides. Sharing newsletters and email like this is a great way to steal ideas from each other and figure out was works and what does not . I love it

Recently I have been sending friend requests to anyone I notice on facebook with a hobie in their picture. I figure even if some east or west coast sailor might not make one of our events they surely will have friends/family who just might.

It is a small world these days you know.

We haven't raced a Hobie since the '89 Prosail series, but we are talking about doing 16s at Lake Norman. I haven't raced anything there since Lasers in the late '70s.

Count me in. [email protected]. I sail with stupidpancakes in Charleston harbor though I have a H18 as I'm a bigger guy.

Thank you all for your interest in Div 9. You'll get a copy of the newsletter shortly. Although H16's are the only Fleet racing for Division Points at Cat Fest, we'd be glad to have any other Hobies join us. You'd race in their open classes unless perhaps 5+ of something else showed up, then they might give you your own start too. Bring on your 18's, 17's, 20's, Waves, and 14's!
