Awesome video. I've been washed off the back of my 16 too, but my crew went forward and we avoided the backwards capsize. I was really impressed that you righted the boat solo. But then came the dreaded double capsize, :P despite your death grip on the dolphin striker. It must have really been blowing that day. I've done the double capsize on my 20. I tried to the grab the dolphin striker as it came down, and as they say in baseball, it was "a swing and a miss."

Your playbook? I don't think you may call yourself a cat sailor if you haven't fallen overboard.

Oh... It isn't just that I have done it once or twice... It is a pretty regular thing for me..

At my last regatta in Dallas... I am cooking along up the beat.. Trying to not get stuck b/t a couple H20's who were coming up behind me.. Apparently on the last tack I had bumped the ratchet off... the main sheet slips out of my hand landing me in the drink. So there I am trying to work the tiller from behind to stay out of the way of these other boats while pulling myself back up.. I must be getting pretty good at it because I got a "nice recovery" from both boats as we approached A mark.. :D I have gotten so good at this I don't expect the whole episode cost me more than 2-3 boat lengths

This video below is one of my favorites. Sailing with experienced crew who lets just say is used to a much more skillful skipper (as in her mother)

So as you see in the video the boat smashes a wave, and then begins to accelerate... My front foot begins to lift and I can't pull myself back down.. I distinctly remember yelling "I'm going down!!!", and then hearing her say.. "WHAT!!! WHY????"

Probably the best was sailing with John... It was HONKING... 30-35mph winds... We are playing in huge waves/slop I finally get the trap harness high enough I could use it.. I kick out on the wire and we are cruising.. Next thing I know the boat starts to heal.. John is good at keeping the boat flat so I glance down and see him holding onto the tiller crossbar for dear life... then the tiller extension.. Which pops off... All this while the boat is hauling ass on what has become a broad reach... I end up getting drug along behind the boat, thankfully still hooked up... Took several tries to tack solo in those conditions and sailed right back over to John.. Who as soon as he grabs the striker pulls the boat down into the wind... All I can hear is "HEAD UP!!! HEAD UP!!!"

This thread was extremely humorous yet reassuring for me. Thank you.
