I'm going to longboat key for the Fourth of July weekend. Does anybody know a place I can keep the Hobie 16 on the beach for the weekend. I would love to take my 16. Someone said a turtle nesting season I might have a problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Contact the sarasota sailing squadron ( they are on the south end of longboat key). Just google to get their number.

Yes there are a couple Hobies on the beach just north of point of rocks (south of swim beaches) the closest beach access to that is about 1 block south of the stickney point bridge, but it is very small and no place to launch. Plus it would be boring sailing off siesta beach, my opinion is the best place to launch is from city island park. You can go out in the bay or the gulf from there (new pass). If it were me I would just knock on a few doors near where I'm staying and ask if you can leave your boat on their beach for the weekend, most people don't mind (I've done that). It's a very safe area nobody will mess with it.
This is race week in sarasota so their will be a lot of go fast boats so be careful out there.

Thank you guys. I spoke to the hotel manager and he said I can leave the boat on their beach. But he said to be at my own risk because of turtle nesting. I don't think that would be an issue because there will be people from the hotel on the beach anyway. What difference would my boat make. Anyway, I'm looking forward to sailing there. Hope to see you locals out there.
