HI group,

I new here. Just bought a 14-foot Hobie Cat. The boat is about 1975'ish if that matters. I am pumped about having my first Hobie, have wanted one for most of my adult life.

My question:

How much mast rake is typical for this boat? Seem like it has alot but of course it's been sailing for years with what it has. The Jib is roller furling and the jib stay is not adjustable so it will take some effort to pull the masthead forward and reduce the mast rake.

I'll post a question soon about adding a trapeze.

Thanks

Jim

Bob Curry would be the best to answer this question. Bob, didn't you have some tuning guide for the 14 that I saw posted somewhere? If you could post it in the 14 section of the forum that would be great.

Thanks for your help, I found the document you spoke about. Here is the link if anyone else needs it. Very helpful.

Jim

Here is a link to another forum in which I asked a question regarding forestay lengths. The subject was the same as your question. I was given excellent replies along with a great picture that says it all.
