Post subject:  ASA instructor course questions.

There is a course being offered locally to become a certifiable American Sailing Association Instructor. (the small boats course)

To be perfectly honest until I learned about the course being available I didn't know much if anything about the ASA.

Has anyone taken a course from an ASA instructor, or is anyone around here been awarded one certification or another from this group?

I am just trying to figure out if this is something I should spend some money on gain that notch in the belt to help the fleet and our local sailing club?

I've taken three courses (ASA 101, 103, and 104) from the sailing school in St Petersburg, FL. I wanted to get my bare boat certification. The instructor we had was great. He had 30+ years of experience. Learned a tremendous amount. It helped that we already knew how to sail, as he accelerated our courses so we could spend the majority of our time of the big boat. Price was reasonable.

Here are a couple of links that should help.
