Noticed that the ball on which the mast rests on really squeeks. Anybody have a soultion

Wrap the ball with plumber's Teflon tape before stepping the mast. It's not a permanent solution, but will last for a couple of days.

Shooting it with silicone spray helps, too.

A dab of wheel bearing grease smeared over the ball or around the inside of the mast step socket will solve the problem.

The ball most likely squeeks due to the ball truning on the screw threads, not the ball to mast connection. Tighten the ball to the threaded rod and no squeeky. :wink:

Possibly consider polishing the inside of the cup casting?

Just go sailing in 10 knots+ air and the squeak will go away :mrgreen:
