A big congratulations to Hobie Fleet 97 in Raleigh, NC! They were reactivated this past week and a new charter has been issued. Commodore Garrett Dawkins (Forum Username "GD_NC") has done a fantastic job of rounding up sailors in the Central North Carolina area and putting Fleet 97 back on the map.
The camaraderie that comes with a fleet will turn solo experiences into memorable events shared with friends with common bond: Hobie sailing. We've reactivated two fleets in Division 9 (includes GA, SC, NC, East TN and Virginia Beach, VA) this year: Fleet 53 in Charleston and Fleet 97 in Raleigh. We also have the Division 9 H16 Championships, an HCA points regatta, scheduled for Sept 7-8 at Lake Norman Yacht Club just north of Charlotte, NC (all other Hobies welcome in open classes). Momentum is rolling in Division 9!! I want to invite you to jump on the bandwagon. Please contact me if you live or sail in our region and want to put a fleet together. It's easy to do. If you live somewhere else, find the fleet roster on the HCA website (outdated in some cases),
