I bought a new Hobie skipper's harness from my local dealer. It is very uncomfortable to say the least. Does anyone else have experience with this product? Is there a better, more comfortable product out there?

Thanks!

I have the Magic marine Pro Racing harness and it is super comfortable. I went on a destination sail and I was on the wire for about 3 hours straight in 15-20 knot winds and heavy waves. That harness saved me. I have use the one you speak of and I didn't like the way it pinched and dug in inside my legs. The harness i got was about 180 bux I think. best investment I have made yet.

A harness' fit depends on how well your body fits the pattern used by the manufacturer. To a certain extent, you get what you pay for. The Hobie harnesses are a good, moderately priced alternative that fits most people.

But if you don't have it adjusted correctly, or can't tolerate the crotchless style, the you need to try something else.

After 20+ years of using crotchless styles (including Hobie and Magic Marine), I've gone back to a "nappy" style harness - a Zhik T2. When I first tried it on, the fit and comfort were exceptional. But, at $269, it's not for everybody.

For the Magic Marine Pro Harness, would you recommend the seat harness (without shoulder straps)? I'll always be working the helm.
