Best to visit in store and try it on or if buying online review the manufactures sizing charts.
I'm a 36" and I have a Zhik T2 in L/XL, a Ronstan in XL and a Magic Marine in L. Each brand is a different fit.

Intensity sails sells harnesses, and they have a sizing chart if I'm not mistaken.

I too couldn't find the Hobie size chart so I've done some digging and several people in the US have mentioned Hobie's harness designs being simular to or the same as Aquata. Aquata harness link and chart below:
http://www.aquatausa.com/harness.htm
http://www.aquatausa.com/sizeharness.htm

If you don't trust these listings and what others are saying then your only option will be to buy another brand who does advertise a size chart. I've used several harnesses now and the best by far is the Zhik T2. Fully adjustable nappy style harness, it's expensive but soooooo comfortable and doesn't dig into your legs.

hobies have the same design as the aquatas. but aquata is cheaper and better. (i think made in the usa)

I have to agree here. The T2 harness is the shiz, but it's $$$. You get what you pay for. I've had everything from the original Hobie harness (the diaper), to SSI ones in the 80's, GrifGrabbers in the '90s, Hobie in the early 2000s, Magic Marine in the late 2000's until I got the T2 this summer.

Best. Harness. Ever.

I'm a 33/34 and have an extra large Hobie Skipper's (half) Harness that's ~2 years old max. It's okay, but if it was any bigger or if I was any smaller, I'd wish it were a large instead. As it is, I'm reaching the limit for tightening the leg straps, and the hip straps are close.

You want the harness snug in order to distribute the load properly. That said, every one I've seen had a wide range of adjustment.

For posterity and in case anyone uses this thread to research harness size recommendations, I have edited my post above. I recently realized that my harness is an extra large rather than a large. I may go looking for a large and save the extra large for my next growth spurt!
