Hello,
I'm new to this forum. I recently wore through my Port Hull on my H16. There is a 1/4 inch gap between the outside and inside edges x 6 inches long. Approximately centered between the two pylons.
I need to support / attach the outside to the inside. Does anyone have any experience with this type of "bottom job" ? I need all the help I can get. I appreciate any and all comments. Also if anyone knows where I can pick up a decent pair of Sails that are relatively affordable please let me know that also. Thanks for your help. Keith

I filled the keel gap with long strand epoxy marine filler then put two layers of epoxy glass over it. Seemed to work okay but I sold the boat and don't know how long it lasted. My boats get dragged up and down the beach all season so nothing lasts more than two or three years.

Thank you so much for the link to Hobie Hotline. Loaded with good information. My only question is on the bottom job described they used fiberglass "TAPE"

Tape being cloth or mat fiberglass?

Tape is woven fiberglass fabric (not mat). It is the exact same as fiberglass that comes off of rolls in sheets but it is in a narrow width with stitching along the edges so it doesn't unravel. You can get it in widths from 1/2" wide up to 12" wide. Check out uscomposites.com.

A Big Thanks to everyone for your suggestions. I have been able to fill the gap and will be completing the glass work this week. It's going well thanks to your help and generosity. I hope you all have a great sailing season next year.
