Hey,
I just thought I would tell the Hobie world about the really clean 18 on ebay.
Like I said it looks really clean and ready for the water. It has breand new sails and the wings look about brand new.
You might take a look, the starting bid is 1000.00

I believe canibul is speaking of transportation expenses, probably on the high side. Canibul where do you really live?

Yeah, that was why I posted about it on here. I thought that there is surely someone on this website that wants it.

I bet in the next few years there are going to be some great used 18's for sail. There are alot of people that don't like the idea of having a boat that is no longer made. What is everyones thoughts on this, how long will the 18 be a common boat to see.

Hard telling.

It seems to be a regional thing as far as racing goes and there will be probably be pockets of them for quite some time.

Look at the 14 and 17, no longer produced, but still popular. I looks like the Hobie faithful aren't giving up support of the 14, 17 or 18 any time soon.

How about the 4.5, 5.0, 5.2, 5.5, 5.7, 5.8 & 6.0 no longer produced by performance? Did I miss a few models in there somewhere?

And don't believe ANYTHING you read.

From the Hobie Class Association web site

Quote:
Hobie 17 Specifications
Hobie 17
Production start date: September 1985
Out of production as of 2003

Note: The Hobie 17 Sport consists of the standard Hobie 17 with an added jib and a boomlet instead of a full boom.

Reading between the lines: The 17 is no longer produced as a model in and of itself but the 17 Sport and 17 SE models are. Am I correct ?

Maybe if we're lucky we'll find out that Ketterman's Tri-Foiler is still in production too - only at a new affordable price

The Hobie 17 was out of production for a short time. We have been building again for several years and we currently have inventory of them.
