Don't listen to them Gree,

But I want to see you sail the daggerless regatta, on your 5.2 (You WILL have to remove your boards though).

Should be very exciting seeing how fast you can sail sideways :D

If I don't manage to sell the 14 by then I will bring it up. As for selling the Nacra, I have already had her on the water, I can't give her up. But I am really thinking about keeping the 14, financially I can handle it but I don't have alot of storage room.

Fleet 63?? in norman. I didn't know it existed! I would like to get involved if it is possible. What does it take, I am sure that would involve dues and other fun stuff. But if someone has some info on how to bring it back to life, I would like to try. What is involved in being a commodore?

Thanks for the advice on how to get in contact with a dealer, I am sure I will be doing that soon.

And as for racing the Nacra without boards, just for fun i tried tacking without them, yeah that boat doesn't like being boardless. If anyone needs a crew for the boardless race on their 16 look me up. I would love to help, I might be up there with both boat!

Hey, if you can sail a 16 backwards upwind, maybe you can sail the Nacra sideways upwind?

How about I race my Nacra, and I won't bring the boards but I get to take two paddles out on the boat with me! I need them to.... paddle in light wind.

Tell you what.

We will allow it. only if you trade those paddles for your stern plugs..

That depends on how long the race is, judging by the Hobie's performance without plugs I would have about 10 minutes before you all would be catching me since the Nacra has so much more floatation!

But seriously, what is involved in being a commodore!

I know, just joking around with you all. Some of my friends and I got out the other day. He had his 16 and i had my Nacra. He could really keep up pretty well, but he has brand new sails. The only major thing I noticed was that my boat pointed a little higher, and I almost always gained some on tacks. But on a reach, I think he was actually a little faster, but he does know his boat better than I know the nacra!

Yeah, that whole thing about hydrodynaic lift from the boards.. But if you get someone who really knows how to sail upwind on the 16, and in the right conditions...

Actually it was kinda funny I was out in San Diego Bay, and I pointed over a Catalina 27. I sailed by them to windward and yelled "HEY!!! YOUR DOING SOMETHING WRONG!! I'm not supposed to be able to do this!!!

Yeah, there is some guy at the local lake who has some big mono slug. I could out point him on the 14. I am not sure what was wrong but he didn't know what he was doing. I also saw him have a knockdown when the wind went from 10mph to about 35 in a matter of minutes. I think it was his first summer with the boat, and to justify his problems, I got flipped by the same front.

So why don't we have an open class at the hefner races? Afraid?

Afraid? I think not. But the Daggerless Regatta is a HOBIE regatta and us points chasers are driving 12 hours south to race in a HOBIE regatta, so there won't be any open class I am afraid.
In reference to pointing, we have MC Scows on our lake and my 14 unirig will point just as high and go just as fast up wind. They are a little faster downwind suprisingly.

You all have just about talked me into keeping the 14 and bringing her to Hefner and even if I don't I will bring my Nacra up there and watch at least.

Good choice. The daggerless will be a fun event.

I'm doing some digging on contacts for you and will email you soon. Had to take my father in for a surgical procedure, so if I don't get back with you today will on Monday for sure. :)
