Gday guys and gals
I need a new post for my hobie 16, to hold up tramp.
Hobie here in sweden says $800 for a kit. I just need a 60cm piece of a old mast with a measurement of 19.4cm wife. It is just a piece of a mast, but smaller mast size than a hobie 16, can anyone tell me what this mast size is from? I can look for a mast from another type of boat and use this and maybe save $800

Instead of replacing your pylon, you could consider some other options (particularly if the pylon is still attached securely to the bottom of the hull).

You could epoxy the pylon to the corner casting. The bottom picture shows where I epoxied the pylon to the front right corner casting.

You could cut the bad part off the top of the pylon, insert a piece of sleeve inside the pylon and weld another piece of pylon or mast to the rest of the pylon. The bottom picture shows how one of my pylons was welded with a new top section for the pylon.

I was hoping that I could find out which mast has 19.4 cm measurement to replace the whole post. As you said it is still connected to hull and only the top 20cm has broken off. Maybe welding is the answer, not paying $800 is not an option.

The pylons on the 16 use the same aluminum extrusion as the mast on the 14, so an old 14 mast would work for what you’re doing. Apparently Hobie also makes a sleeve kit for the 14 mast/pylons that allows you to splice two pieces together. This would probably be worth looking into. It only costs about $45 here in the US.
