I have a Hobie Toy box and I want to lock it somehow. Has anyone rigged a locking device, hasps, or anything to lock your Hobie toy box?

I was thinking of cutting a slot about an inch from the edge of both the cover and the box (on top and bottom), then sliding a thin piece of steel all the way through the top and bottom, then securing with a padlock.

Anyway, any other ideas or photos are appreciated.

We used to have a kit for that. Check out a marine hardware store for stainless or chrome parts. They have lote of options in the marine industry.

Both my sailboxes are equiped with hasps on both ends. Fastened to the fiberglass box with pop-rivets and large washers for support.

Remember that the boxes are only a deterent to keep the honest people out. Most of them can be pried open with a stick off the beach. Lock or no Lock.
