I'm helping the student-run sailing club at the University of Washington (UW) advocate for their survival in light of plans to demolish their small boat facilities while increasing exclusive paid access for large motor yachts & cruise ships during football games & private events.
The plans (see below) will replace current infrastructure with inadequate facilities which will reduce equity, diversity, inclusion, and access, especially for novice student sailors at the campus waterfront.
If you would like to help preserve affordable sailing at UW, we are asking for anyone and everyone to leave a public comment BY FEB 9TH on the project, using either of these methods:
1. The club will submit your comment on your behalf: https://washingtonyachtclub.org/public-comment-form/ - Share this link with friends and social media!
2. You can submit a comment directly to the City of Seattle's website. There is a link to the City's site on the linked page above, along with a comment template you can personalize.
In your comment, please emphasize the critical harm and displacement of student-run small boat sailing.
