Perfect sailing weather, after the last two weekends have been cold and rainy! But my sailing buddy is out of town and I can't step the mast by myself. 8( Why does mother nature tease me so? |

We've finally been getting some spring weather, the water in our veins begins to boil, the boat gives me that "let's go sailing" look, and today I woke up and it was SNOWING!! Yikes! Now, granted, it was just some flurries but what a bummer! Not sure if I'll get a chance to sail this weekend or not. Still have some stuff to do to get "Burt the Cat" ready for the season. Not the least of which is to install my SitnSail wings that have been patiently waiting. Sure seems llike winter lasts a LOT longer when you're a sailor! Fair Winds, Nick '78 H16 "Burt the Cat" |

The weather here in the Florida Panhandle is starting to get a little better too. We had the Sunjammers Batten Buster this past weekend and we were forced to sail in 80 degrees with about a 12 knot breeze. It was really hard to make the call to sail but we all sucked it up and did it. It was weird not being cold when the water sprayed up and hit you. We have the results posted at www.sunjammers.com with pictures to soon follow! Hope everyone gets a chance to go sailing sometime soon! We are all getting ready for the St. George Island youth regatta this weekend. If you are interested in coming let me know and I will get you all the info you need. I promises you will not find a better bunch of kids and oh yea the best food you have ever eaten, and that's a promise! Hey, I went sailing this past weekend and it was nice over at Lake Fenton in Michigan... you missed out... 6 Hobie 16's showed up... I am hoping the weather clears up and warms backup for this coming weekend to go sailing again over at Cass lake in Michigan... I had the same reaction this morning when I saw the snow... Yeah, Mark, I was bummed I couldn't make the Fenton regatta. We're in the process of selling our house and I spent all last weekend doing those projects I've put off for years! I informed the "admiral" that I had done my bit and now it's officially sailing season. Of course, the forecast for this weekend is thunderstorms. *sigh* Oh, BTW, I adjusted the forward mast support on my trailer and it's still about six inches too short to lift the mast over the rear of the van. I'm gonna hit Home Depot and fabricate an extension. I'm just not comfortable having over six foot of mast hanging over the back of the boat when trailering. Hope to catch up with you soon. Nick |

Yea, this weekend does look sucky for sailing on saturday... but there is always sunday to get a few races in... I know about getting those projects done... helped my dad get a few of them done this past year to sell his house and move to Jackson... strang about that... lets hope you can get the extension fabricated before friday so maybe you could make it to Cass lake... Well, my van is a full-size Chevy Express. VERY tall. My forward mast support is made of U-shaped metal. I plan on getting a 12 inch extension and a complimentary sleeve. Shouldn't cost too much and I should be able to get it at Home Depot. If all goes well, I'll get the boat wet this weekend. The weather man's been wrong before, eh?! Nick |

Managed to get a few hours on my 14 last weekend. Finally! Water temps in the sound were 60's, and air mid 70's. Thankfully,here's no snow here. Plenty of wind, though! Sail on! Dave |
