Post subject:  Just a good sailing story

Just thought some of you might find this interesting:

I'm out sailing my H14 today in Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island. It's blowing 25+ knots and I'm out on the trap. Right as I am passing through the shipping channel, a gust comes up the bay, I bury my leward bow, and take a trip around the forestay. I'm working on getting the old girl back on her feet, when none other than Americas Cup champion "Alinghi" comes screaming by about 10 feet off my bow. Just the wind off of their enormous mainsail promptly turtles my cat again. Lucky for me, their chase boat, (with it's twin 250hp outboards) is nice enough to toss me a line, and pulls me upright in about 2 seconds.

God bless the swiss.

I still like the French AC entry in ~87. Sponsored by the photo company KISS. The boat was called 'French Kiss'. If the chase boat had rescued you, you would have been rescued by 'Kiss me quick' and if the tender had rescued you, you would have been rescued by 'Kiss me Tender' :D

What happened to creative boat names??? Now it's all corporate crap...

A friend of mine used to have a five-o called, 'Cunning Stunts'

Anyone else got one???

Post subject:  Excellent story-thanks

Narragansett Bay is where I first sailed my newly purchase/used H16 in 1976. I had no freaking idea what I was doing. I only knew that I had been sailing Sunfish an K-boats my whole life and I was tired of goint slow  I think I had it upside down within 5 minutes, no idea how to make it right, and was helped by a power boat. About 5 minutes later I learned how to pitch-pole
I baby'd it back to shore and found a guy with a Hobie to spend some time teaching me a few essentials- like how not to pitch-pole

Thanks for bringing back the memories.

PS my favorite boat name: Poodle With A Mohawk. You should have seen the graphic on that one!!
