Any chance anyone has any tricks or tips for "unsticking" a hotstick?

Try this. Clamp the aluminum end in a vice, wrap the outer layer (moving part) with a scalding hot towel or cloth, twist counter-clockwise to release.

spray some silicone down there first. then spray some when you store it and don't store it screwed down tight, leave it loose.

yep, silicone spray works magic....but if you have sand in there, it can be a bit tricky though, perhaps try to rinse out all the sand first

Submerse entirely in water, then gently work the parts trying to loosen just a little at a time. Once loosened, work the tiller in and out many times to flush the debris out. best with no grip handle on. If you have a cork ball, you may have to remove.
