Hobie… A New Book by Paul Holmes and Croul Publications

Press Release: http://www.hobiecat.com/blog/hobie-master-water-wind-and-waves,168/

Hobie has an epic story. This 12” x 9” hardcover book shows how it all came to be, and more, in 17 chapters with 300 pages, 120,000 words of text and 585 photographs and illustrations.

I am really excited about this! This is a must-have book for a Hobie enthusiast. I’m definitely getting one for myself! Yes, I work for Hobie, but have been an enthusiast since 1976 when I bought my first boat and after all these years... I still didn't know about a lot of the stuff which is included in the book. “Hobie” has all kinds of little-known stories from how the logo was designed, how Hobie was inspired and all the way to what we are up to now. The book is even up to date with photos of Hobie 16s and America’s Cup 72s together on San Francisco Bay this fall.

Some of Hobie's extended family at the book release party Saturday night. Hundreds of Hobie people present at the Surfing Heritage and Cultural Center in San Clemente.

Along with the group of us from the factory and my buddy Mike Hammond, I also saw Sandy Banks, Wayne Schafer, John Disndale, John Wake among others. I heard Doug Campbell was there too, but missed him... it was packed. A great mix of Hobie surf, sail, family and friends.

Hobie was looking good!
