Post subject:  Broughton Island overnighter - ANZAC DAY!

I am envisaging an overnight trip for AIs & TIs from Shoal Bay to Broughton Island, out one day, back the next. Suggested timing is first week in May (subject to weather of course). I hope we will have a "mother ship" waiting for us at Shoal Bay in the form of a Toyota Coaster motorhome (with coffee machine etc etc LOL) to sweeten the trip back.

Anybody got any interest in doing such a trip? IS a weekday better? (doesn't bother me either way)

Either PM me or reply here.
Tony (rarin' to go!)

Sorry Tony but I missed this, thinking it was your original EOI for BI.
I'm interested. 8)
I 'd prefer midweek and could do Tue Wed Thu and stretch to Fri or Sat if necessary that first week in May. It would probably just be me in the AI.

Sorry I changed things around by advancing the date by a week or two Stringy. I now have two AIs and my TI aiming for Anzac Day, meaning just the Friday work day off, with the Saturday/Sunday as "rain days" if we need to defer. Is this a possibility for you?

I thought this was the updated post but I see now it was a day earlier.
No, I can't make the Anzac day trip. I'm booked up that whole week, including weekends.

Hey Tony,

Changeman & I are keen. What time are you planning on leaving? Can I leave my car & trailer at Shoal Bay overnight?

I miss the salty spray when sailing on the lake here in Canberra! Need salt......

Rob, I haven't drilled down to that level of detail yet as regards departure time, but I would suspect before lunch to ensure arrival will heaps of light. It would be great if you and Changeman could join us.

As regards safe parking, worst case scenario is to book a campsite at the adjacent holiday park and leave the vehicle in there. I think that will be my preference, but I would like to hear the thoughts of those who have done the trip before.

I would like to coordinate things a little (eg silly if everyone brought a stove) so I would appreciate your sending me a PM with your email addresses and phone numbers, so we can take the chat offline.

BTW a possible back-up plan is to head up the river to Myall Lake if it is too nasty outside, so you won't waste a trip!

Tony, it's not always nasty outside. On our return trip from Broughton, conditions weren't too bad at all. One difference was that the tide was going out when we departed, with a moderate incoming swell, but the tide was coming in on our return.
We just left our cars at the boat ramp at Shoal Bay. There's plenty of parking, but no security.

Guys, I missed this trip but would be willing to get involved in any social sailing weekend anywhere between the Gong and Foster.

Just PM me.

Regards

Brian
