Just found out that there are no small rear drain bungs in australia for the 2010 AI and after waiting 2 weeks for a replacement it will be up to another month before it arrives. Considering its such a small but important part you would think that hobie would launch the 2010 with spares available. So i'm really hoping the sticky tape keeps holding...

Dave, What's the difference from the earlier models?

the 2010 was the first model to have a drain plug below the waterline. The plug is about half the size of the plugs that are found elsewhere in the boat. Its great to be able to drain the boat easily but its really annoying that they didn't just use the normal sized bung, that you can get in any boat shop. Hobie Part number is 79050211 i think.

Perhaps you can find a threaded bolt (wrap it in teflon tape for a tight seal) to hold you until the replacement arrives? Or maybe you can plug and tape the opening? 8)

Have you asked your dealer if they would pull one off a stock boat for you and replace it when they get their parts in stock. A great dealer would.

Looking into this... we have none in our parts stock in the US. May be able to get these moving from our factory area.

Thanks matt, really appreciate your help. My dealer didn't even know the part existed as it wasn't listed in their inventory. I actually called 2 other stores who both told me they had the bungs in stock but after i had driven out to them they only had the standard large bungs after specifically telling them which bung it was!!!!!

We did list the "Newer Drain Plug" part in the catalog last fall. I'll include a photo on the next update.

We located the correct parts and got them on the way... its now an issue due to the distance to our facility in Australia and then to your dealer.
