Nahh :( . As I feared, I can't make it that weekend.

That's a shame Chris. :(

Mickey,
Looks like 4 of us.
I'm glad your suit will be back. No excuse now not to boldly go where no man has gone before!

Chris - we'll miss ya mate :(
Stringy - what with my SharkShield & new suit - I'll be up for anything  :D

Are we all going fancy dress again ? Pity we won't have your company Chris.

4, who is the other one ? Did I miss a post somewhere ?

If Mickey gets his suit back in time he could be Captain Kirk! I think you'd pass as a Klingon without too much effort Slaughter!

My mate Jason is joining us in my yellow AI.
Here is the info that you get when you arrive at the Ranger station.
Campsites...

Any site up to 15 would be fine as far as launching from the cart goes. Whoever gets there first would be wise to grab four of the closest campsites to the ramp.
We stayed at 36 and I wheeled the Oasis down from there OK.

General info...

Note no fires once again. Anyone got one of those gas patio heaters? It will be a lot colder at night.

Camping is offered at Honeymoon Bay on most weekends and during school holidays. You need to bring your own water and gas operated cooking equipment.Fires are not permitted. At times the area is closed for defence exercises. Camping sites are available through a ballot system. Contact the rangers for further information.
Phone: 02 4448 3411 or Fax: 02 4448 3377

Good news!!!
Just called the above number and it looks like we will be able to access HB earlier on Friday than midday because there are no defence exercises planned then. In case you're wondering, it's $10.80 pn per couple (children are free). We don't have to find the ranger to pay - he/she will find us
He suggested calling again later next week to confirm access time.
I asked him whether he could also organise the weather & he said most definitely!! Given that I am coming from Victoria, he has assured me he'll give us a good variety of weather - just to make me feel at home

Stringy - you just beat me with the info
I should have held off another 5 minutes.
Anyhow thanks for the maps and campsite info.
I haven't made too much of an effort to check the route in but imagine it would be pretty well marked.

Do we need to take "Reserved" signs or just stand guard
Yeah - a heater would be good but I don't have one. Anyone else

Nup. No gas heater here. Don't need heaters. Come on fellas, man up. What will our overseas friends think when they read that we need to bring a heater cause it may be down around 15deg C.

( P.S. Better get myself some thermals. )

That forecast is improving but still too far out to call. The benefit of JB is that if it's too rough off shore we still have the Bay to explore. :)
Mickey,
You can't miss the Ranger station. It's on the right just before you get to Currarong.
After going through the checkpoint HB is the third turnoff on the right (on the Point Perpendicular Road.)
Just how early do you think we can get in?

Weather's now better but you're right, still a bit too far out to call. I hope to get down there before 10am. Well that's the plan anyway. If I plan to leave at 4, then I'll actually leave at 5. I tend to stop a lot whilst traveling so 10 sounds do-able.

How bout yourselves ?

How to make a name for ourselves. I can see the headlines now.

'Jessica Watson gets so close to home but runs into an Adventure Island at Jervis Bay'. Water Police are searching for a man dressed as Captain Kirk.

http://www.jessicawatson.com.au/the-voyage

Hope she comes in close to land. I'd say we will be almost in the same place at the same time.

It would be great to see her but I'd be giving her a wide berth.
I'd hate to be the one responsible for ruining her record attempt!

Go Jess!! 8)

Hey guys - the weather looks reasonable - if a little light on wind
http://www.willyweather.com.au/nsw/illa ... s-bay.html
Unfortunately my adjusted dry suit was shipped from Colorado earlier today and is scheduled for delivery by end of day Mon 10 May. Well that's Murphy for you   Anyway, I think I will survive in my steamer and layered clothing - particularly if the winds are only light :)
This forecast is a bit different

Micky, remember that this is central NSW warmed by the EAC, not Bass Straight.
Have a great weekend - I wish I was there with you.

Yeah Mickey, I bought a wetsuit for last winter and ended up never using it. I got through the whole winter with just a spraytop, shorts and sandals. The water stays quite warm during winter in this part of the world.

Just spoke to the Ranger & he confirmed we can gain access anytime after midnight Thur
So you can get here as early as you like on Friday :D
I think I will aim to get there by 1000 hrs.
Sites 1, 2, 3 & 4 or 5, 6, 7 & 8 look pretty good - is that right Stringy
If you get there and find a little Windsor pop top it'll be me
Sounds like I mightn't even need my wetsuit  :D
