I may be new here having only gotten my used AI last weekend and sailing it 4 times / 7 hours since then, but I would like to propose a club for AI / TI owners, rightly called The Aka-Owii Tribe

Now, some clubs have a secret handshake you are taught upon entry ... some have a Crest / Coat of Arms that you are permitted to proudly wear once you pass the membership test

... for initiation into The Aka-Owii Tribe I propose the following ritual must be completed hereby teaching you the Aka-Owii Dance - it is not a particular dance per say, but one that you will know immediately and personalize with your own flavor and context as far as the moves it invoves as well as the language spoken during the dance:

I know that many may have earned the right of passage before me, and you will of course be grandfathered into this Elite club while others have yet to experience the sheer bliss of becoming a member of this brotherhood of wind fairing souls

So, Who Amongst you is so qualified to gain admission ?

Now is the time to claim your right of passage !!!

Yep, I'm a member! got the bumps and scars. After 200-300 sails, you get more graceful or run out of shin-bone that hasn't been already bruised.

Yep, I'm a member too. I also carry a badge on my car from getting it up on the roof rack...

Count me in. Multiple contusions.

Finally, a gang where they don't have to beat you up as an initiation.

We do it to ourselves.

I feel left out, neither aka nor any other protrusion aboard my AI has shed my blood.

Not enough wind, Denizen! We can fix that.

It's blowing 25MPH+ out here. Come chase some kite surfers with me!

... this was after my first AI outing. I put sunscreen on - must have forgot my thighs in all the excitement to get on the water. I'm an ex-lifeguard so I believe highly in sun protection and not being out in the 11a-2p sun, but we all duck up once in a while  I had to sleep with cold compresses on my legs for 2 nites, stung for another 3 days ... now I could make a jib from the peelings :?

i got real pink my first outing, then red on my second outing, now i could pass for a mexican from the neck down. i got my best friend real good though. he is from nj and even though he applied a bunch of sunscreen i guess 5 sweaty hours later he realized he was very toasty... he called me to complain for the next 4 days straight, said he couldn't leave the house for the first 2 days... :D

Silly thread I started a few years ago but I went through the initation ritual and dance this past weekend - once again - and thinking we have alot of new owners on the site I thought we may re-visit this "club" idea

Do we have any new members ?

LONG LIVE THE AKA-OWII TRIBE !!!
