I have all the essential parts to move from a portable fishfinder to a "fixed" one.

But here's the question. Do you guys leave the wiring from the battery and transducer exposed when you remove your fishfinder from its base? Have you ever experienced any issues with water damage/shorting with these two wires/connectors exposed to the elements?

I only ask this because once you install the rubber stopper and feed the wiring thru, there is not much you can do to protect the connectors from the damage cause by salt or water. Should this be a concern of mine?

Thanks.

This is more problematic. I am working on a plugin cover for mine but it is not anywhere near ready for prime time. Low priority. kyt
