See http://macleanoutdoors.net.au/index.php ... strap.html.

"RAM-108BU RAM 'C' base with ball & strap. 1.5" ball attaches to 1/2 - 2" tubes (such as Hobie Island crossbars & akas)"

HTH :)

There's one pictured in the new 2009-10 Hobie parts catalog. Page 18.
UBOLT RAIL BASE 1''
#72023017

Hobie should know where this will fit.

Many things can be attached by making your own mounts. 1.5" PVC pipe can be cut in 2-4 inch sections. Then cut a section out of the pipe and you have a C shaped piece that will snap onto the AKA tubes. Check it out!

I am looking for a RAM mounting solution for the rear AKAs as well. I want to put spinning poles about 1/2 way out, w angled rod holders to achieve maximum line separation.

Does anyone have pictures or suggested parts #s for this?

Ideally it would be a low profile, strap-on or Ubolt mount, w 1.5" rubber ball that would not impede the use of the tramps when fishing or recreating. Like this:

http://www.themountdepot.com/RAM_108BU_p/ram-108bu.htm

Does anyone know the exact diameter of the AKA bars? I guesstimate 1 3/4".

do you think the 108b would work ?
i looked at these but thought they would just spin eventually with the weight of the rod (and hopefully fish)

Barely. It does not look sturdy. For a camera mount it might be fine.

I am hoping for something better than a pipe clamp with a rubber sleeve. A u-bolt would be better when things get knocked around.

Maybe another brand?

I'll source some ubolts and fit them, if it's a tidy job i'll post pics.....
If not u'll never hear from me again
p.s. what is the exact dia of the metalwork on the ai ?....need to source u bolts and allow for powder coating.

or the larger 2"
http://www.ram-mount.com/CatalogResults ... fault.aspx

Yours is much cheaper- let us know what u-bolt fits.

Now to pick the rod holders.

Damn. No help from Hobie. :(

Did you get them yet??

BTW, a friend told me yesterday that the measurements are 1 5/8" on the outside of the bars. I would guess this is at the most circular point.
