Funny - it took us going down to the Florida Keys with the kayaks for us not to think twice about a roundtrip crossing of the Chesapeake Bay like we did yesterday. And we went back out for seconds!

We went sailing with the TI - 32 miles total - a new one-day record for us! We put-in at Sandy Point State Park - just above the Bay Bridge - and went across, then down, then came back across, then up, then back to the dock, then back out again. All and all, a great time was had by all.

Here's Cindy's video of the voyage:

Great video. Looks like a good place to sail.

The Bay has some of the best sailing on the east coast of the US. I've sailed as far north as Massachusetts and as far south as the Florida Keys, and keep coming back to the Bay.

I'll send this link to a guy I know who live just north of Baltimore. I think he'd get a kick out of it.

Nice work Mitch and Cindy. Is that a typical American lighthouse design ? Looks great but can't you do something about those osprey pests, they are everywhere. Squatting on lighthouses, cluttering up the sky and filling the bay with their feathers  ( I'd better confirm that I am just joking before I get bombarded with abuse )

In fact if you could cut a still photo out of the video of the Hobie sail under the bridge and enter it in the Photo Competition you may become a contender for an incredible prize that Hobie have yet to tell us about.

Keep these com'n, we really enjoy them.

The Chesapeake Bay has a whole bunch of different lighthouse designs, the most iconic being the screw-pile lighthouse (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screw-pile_lighthouse). The one in the video is the Sandy Point Shoal lighthouse and it's in a sad state of disrepair; due to our budget woes, I don't know if it will be repaired or not.
