Hello sailers,

I'm thinking of buying a Getaway, but would like to store it in my garage, which is not long enough to hold the 25' mast (even diagonally). Can the mast be separated into two pieces regularly? I saw on the assembly video that you need to glue the two pieces together. Is it ok to not glue it? Will it cause additional wear or damage to mast?

Thanks,
Tony

I think the mast is not meant to be split on a regular basis, and that the glue is necessary (according to what I remember Matt said once), because if you don't glue it the thin edge on the fiberglass top piece will be taking all the compression on the mast (which can be significant in high winds), and that top piece will start to crack around the connection.
