I am inviting any interested Midwest sailors to join me and some buddies for a fun sailing weekend on Lake Monroe by Bloomington,In on the weekend of August 21st and the 22nd.There is a nice state park called Paynetown State Recreation Area that has very nice camp sites(some with great somewhat private beaches hidden behind them). The lake level is a little low which means that there is more sand by where we launch from(next to the public bath house by the beach area). There is a large parking lot there and I simply back down a little hill and launch from a sandy cove without even getting my trailer's wheels wet.You do not need to use their boat ramp. The primitive camping is good but not a whole lot of shade and the electrical camping area is very shady.
Come on down and enjoy some fun with us...Bill 404 21SE :D

something I didn't see. Where are you located? City, State. I read it as Bloomington , Mn. and then I looked at your pictures and don't think that is correct.

This is Lake Monroe by Bloomington ,Indiana...the lake spans into three counties,10,750 acres lake and 13,202 acres of land. The lake is 19 mile long and 2 miles wide at the widest point.A causeway shortens the sailing area. There is 152 miles of shoreline.Check it out on the states web page under www.camp.IN.gov.I have been sailing there since moving back to Indiana in 1976.Paynetown State Recreational Area is 440 acres of land and some very nice camp site.Bloomington is home to Indiana University and has a wonderful atmosphere.
