Just finished up about a 2,000 mile round trip to VT from NC. Used 4 Yakima Mako Aero Saddles on the factory 2003 Ford Windstar roof rack. It was a 2 day trip so the AI was strapped to the rack for about 48 hours. Going up hit some pretty brutally hot temperatures. Coming back temps not a problem but strong winds occurred. Anyway saddles performed very well did not notice any deformation of the hull. Had the amas strapped on the rack next to the hull and the mast on top of the Ama. Going up had the front and rear bow lines attached to the cross bar on the rack. Coming back because of the windy conditions had the front bow line attached under the front bumper. Much less rocking of the hull.
