Check out this video from that shows the new steering handle on the 2011 Pro Angler. It looks like a good improvement and I'm happy to hear there will be an update kit available for older models. Go to 1:05 on the video for the PA.

This definitely looks like an improvement. Hey Matt, any idea when the retofit kits will be available at dealers?

Thanks for sharing this video TDK.
I KNEW you'd be all over this one HH!!! Hopefully this won't interfere with the new switch panel. I too am excited for the release of this new feature. After watching the video, I wondered if the new mount (on the 2011 model) is roto-molded into the port side and a kit is available to mount on the starboard side, if so desired. I think many owners will be pouncing on this one!

It sure looks like it is molded into the port side. The Hobie rep in the video definitely said the kit would allow it to be moved to the starboard side on the 2011 and that the same kit could be used to mount on either side of older models. I'm very curious how it will be mounted without the molded piece shown on the new 2011.

Are the rudder control lines completely inside the hull? I wonder how the kit to switch the control to the right side (or to retro to an older PA) will work if the lines run inside the hull?

Hey Hobie, fill us in!

As for the 2011, the answer is yes. The control lines are completely inside the hual.

Is there any other improvments on new pro-anglers?

The parts should be here in a few weeks (early October 2010). It is a stainless steel fitting that can be mounted to the right (or left on older models). We have not yet determined the cost.

Will it mount in the same spot?

It is designed to replicate the 2011 position and can work on the right side as well.
