We're going to try to do some on-the-water reports today.

A lot depends on battery longevity and available cell service, but we'll give it our best shot.

It's almost 9:30 AM here - 1/2 hour to the competitors' meeting and 1 1/2 hours to the first warning signal at 1100.

There's not a cloud in the sky, and the breeze is about 8 kts from the south east.

We had about 7 - 8 kts when we first got out, but it has slowly died. We got the 18s started, then postponed the other classes.

The wind went hard left and velocity went under 3 kts, so we abandoned for the 18s.

We're in a holding pattern now.

The water has a definite glassy quality to it.

After waiting about 45 minutes for wind to materialize, we put up the "L" flag and led the sailors back the beach.

Lots of swimming, volleyball and sunshine - but no wind to speak of.

We called it a day at 4 PM local.

Tomorrow, it's supposed to be 10 - 15 from the west. Until then . . .

Almost 11 am local time, and we're still waiting for the wind. Supposed to be 10 - 15 kts from the west, but it isn't here yet.

I'm getting really tired of this flag.

It's super windy this morning (25, gusts to 35 kts), so we're waiting it out on the beach. We won't be doing on-the-water reporting today as a computer preservation measure - it's rough out there.

We'll update the Facebook page when we get off the water.

Electric power was scarce today, so we apologize for leaving you in the dark . . we did say we were in the middle of nowhere . . .

Big Mac delivered today. After a brief postponement for the wind to settle, the RC cranked off five races in 8 - 20+ kts under the bright Nebraska sky. There was a dismasting, a holed boat and one trip to the hospital (4 stiches) to keep the chase boats busy.

Tom and Cindy Erdman struggled to maintain their lead over Stephen and Sabrina Cooley, but the Cooleys' heavy air prowess won the day. This is Stephen and Sabrina's first North American Championship - after coming in 2nd five times.

Dan Borg and Phil Collins ended up in a tie for 1st in the 17s - Phil won on the 3rd tiebreaker for his second Hobie 17 North American Championship.
