Tight! A place for everything, everything in its place. Is that a Kagi on the right?
Yep my Kage in it's PVC sheath (so I don't stab myself).
Been carrying it for a couple of months, and finally got to use it on the shibi, one strike, and it was all over!
Can you give dimensions of yours?
They angle slightly, narrower in the front, so I can paddle over it. 22-23" wide, and 66" long (all measurements outside to outside of the pipes). The long "pipes" are from windsurf masts, and are very strong. The cross pieces, just PVC (sch 40) as they mainly are taking compression force. It's light, under 10# I was going to make the cross-braces quickly removable, but it's so much stronger with them under tension and bolted. Still wouldn't take more than 5 min. to disassemble. I left a few inches of the masts still on the front, so If I feel I need to expand it, I can add a "nose" to it easily.
Nice! Looks like you can rig it up preloaded with gear for a speedy setup.
Yep! Everything can get set the night before and just dropped on the aka and Velcro'd on. The kagi, gaff and club live on it all the time. Saves at least 10 min. of setup time, not worrying where everything goes at 5am.
I have a mesh bag with a drawstring that I added 2 grommets on the bottom and a loop on the top back that clips in (3 points) and covers the back (or bottom) 3rd of the tramp, which makes it easy to keep light and extra stuff I might bring secure, without having to tether everything separately. As I use lures, and jigs, I rinse them quick in fresh water and put in a ziploc bag for easy later cleanup. Same with gear like flashlights, headlights, etc. in another ziploc so no need to clean unless they get splashed before sunrise. Same with any trash.
Very impressive Bob. And if you are ever in a remote spot and meet with an unfortunate incident, the paramedics can use it to carry you out.
JesseJ and I have talked about that. I'm hoping I'll just need it to carry to the truck, BIG FISH!
OOOOh so you rig it up vertically like a jib as shown. I need to see that one.
no really Bob, how is it attached to the AKAs
I used double-sided 3/4" Velcro on the 4 corners where the tramp pipes and the aka meet. Never failed me on the old tramp.
I likes how my old tramp fit, so this one is mainly a little bigger and much stronger. I can still reach under it to access the water or the gunnel area of the hull. I'm next working on a fish bag that will securely attach to the tramp to hold my catch. I'm using a simple make-shift one now to figure out what works best.
