I bought a grommet kit from a popular online sail shop for $36 and then found the same thing from Harbor Freight for $2.99 !
Quality seems fine to me.

the only difference i would suspect would be the amount of brass on the cheaper ones. The mandrel is also made from aluminum vs steel in the more expensive kit. Will both of them work? yes. It is possible the cheaper ones will start to rust or leave stains and turn green quicker than the more expensive ones.

Yes without a closer look I would be guessing the more expensive ones (grommets) are all brass or at least have a thicker coating where as the cheap ones are just thin brass coated. The mandrel also looks to be of better quality and will be less prone to bending or deformation from the hammering.

Both look like they will work though  .

I've found that most things from Harbor Freight will work, at least once.

I shop there quite a bit. You just never know what you'll find there!
