I am considering bringing my TI to Cape Canaveral on Monday afternoon, 11/1/2010 to watch one of the last space shuttle launches from the water.

For more info, see http://www.meetup.com/kayaking-130/calendar/14883048/

Anyone sail an AI/TI in this area and able to provide launching and sailing recommendations? Or anyone interested in joining me?

Marc,

Do you plan to be on the water during the launch? Where would you launch your boat?

Keith

Mark,

I'm very interested in going but I'm not sure what boat I will bring. If it's cold I may want to paddle a sit inside kayak.

There are detailed directions on where to launch on the link you provided.

Hi Kieth and Jerry.

Will watch from the waters of Mosquito Lagoon on my TI. Launch is scheduled for 4:40 pm.

We can launch our AI/TIs from Bairs Cove Boat Ramp At Haulover Canal.

Google Maps: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=Allenhurst,+FL+32754&daddr=28.732997,-80.756941&hl=en&geocode=CXtL2gts3hzDFX17tgEdasQv-ymf_24ae8rgiDHgub62eEhFDQ%3B&mra=mift&mrsp=1&sz=18&sll=28.733119,-80.756797&sspn=0.004243,0.006518&ie=UTF8&ll=28.733035,-80.756899&spn=0.004243,0.006518&t=h&z=18

For photos and more info on the boat ramp, see http://hubpages.com/hub/Mosquito-Lagoon--Indian-River-Fishing. Search for keyword 'Bairs Cove Boat Ramp"

Mark,

Will we have to go under a bridge? I assume the boat ramp has places to park a trailor but do you think it will be really crowded because of the launch? The kayak Meetup group has a 2nd launch listed in case there is no parking available at the first one.

I may bring my sit inside boat because I can throw it on top of my Pathfinder. I don't have roof racks for my TI or my AI.

The Allenhurst-Haulover Bridge has a vertical clearance of 27'.

Jerry and Marc,

I'm not going to be able to make the launch, but I may be able to get down to Key Largo. I wonder if Ted Jean might come down. There is also a new owner Jon (& Jennifer) Bradley who live just west of Miami.

If you're talking about next Monday Keith - still not retired yet. Quite rubbing it in.

Cayo Costa is coming up on the 12th and I do plan on taking that Friday off for the big West Coast Trailer Sailor Sqadron get together. It's not exclusive so anyone can join in on the three days of fun. I will probably take the Potter 15 so I can camp on the boat in Pelican Bay and not have to pitch a tent in the state park. Although, Mark has expressed a little interest in renting a cabin in the Park and sailing his TI over so that may be an option as well.

Ted

The STS-133 launch is fast approaching. Any plans to meet up this time around? My girlfriend and I would love to paddle our hobie tandem inflatable out with some experienced locals.
