Bek:

It's just a small trailer which I added the Hobie PA Cradles to it. There are a number of post on here as to how to mount the Cradles. I got my Hobie Cradles from Austin Kayaks. Hope that helps.

Any word on when the upgrade/retrofit will be available to order, and any idea about price??

We are still waiting for a few parts. I have a new catalog due to print in about a week, so has to be in there. Soon.

Do you have any insight about how it will work? Will the steering lines be rerouted inside the hull with retro as opposed to the section running around the seat now? How will the handle attach to the boat?

All different from the old system. Will replicate the internal routing of the 2011 model.

Guys,

I was lucky enough to visit Hobie and talk to the engineers there. I will tell you that they are really a nice group of people to deal with. While at Hobie, Jim showed me the steering upgrade. The base is stainless steel and is well made. You will not be disappointed. The upgrade duplicates the new 2011 steering. I have not tried the new steering, but want to switch over to the new design due to the wander in the current steering. Very happy that they are offering this to us. Just goes to show you that Hobie wants to keep us in quality gear. When something is new like the PA, there are bound to be some bugs to be worked out.

I am proud to have purchased Hobie products and will be buying more Hobie kayaks for my two boys.

Steve

I have a small Utility Trailer with Hobies' PA Cradles. The Cradles are mounted at 67" apart. There are a number of topics on this forums as to the Cradles. Hope this helps.

Found a pic of the new steering handle assembly online.

Its in the new Hobie Fall 2010 international brochure.

http://www.hobiecat.com.au/pdf/kayak/Ho ... al-Web.pdf

I wonder if it will have a housing or cover? Is this a pic of the internal parts only?
