Good concept Dawg. I was looking at moving my seat back just a little to make it easier to access the hatch straps. Your idea would also make it a little easier to reach the knobs to remove and install the seat.
Just curious about the 7" rise though. Seems like a lot. You say it's still very stable...did you notice any difference in stability or handling? Does it affect paddling ability any? I might try this with some spacers temporarily,experimenting with different heights.

It is still very stable. Guess you could cut the riser down and weld back together if 7 inch is to much. Cost was $14..Check west marine they may have a shorter extension. Nice part is the bolt patterns all match up. I use a side mounted trolling motor about 50% of the time. Steering is a little loose but I just called Hobie and am getting the steering modification sent out for that. Hope that helps some of the constant course corrections. Love this boat. Best I ever purchased
