I happened to grab my dolphin striker rod recently and noticed it "moved". I could easily pull the rod in a downward motion. The striker post has pulled all of the threads out of the mast step. Nothing left for the post to bite onto. Too much material has been lost to run new threads. I'm surprised the fore crossbar is still straight and didn't fail under heavy load!

Can I save this step? Threaded insert?
Thanks for your advice..

New step casting will fix it.

When the mast rests in the cup the post is still supporting load, but likely contacting the mast base which would end up damaging that part.

Thanks Matt.
Sir-cheap-alot here was trying to avoid the $$ for a new step. If there is a solid alternative, I'm all over it. If not, this would be a great stocking stuffer Santa...uh um...
