There are a few ways, either a fully portable setup so you can transfer from boat to kayak to second kayak, also good for transporting etc.
This one fits inside a Hobie cup holder;

Or these are for RAM mounts and fit in the bung, the cable runs through the hull and then bring it out to your permanent mount sounder;

The link that is under the image will take you to several different ones including that one, most of them are fairly similar and some better made than others.
That particular one was made by Mingle and a very tidy unit. I believe he had an Outback when it was made, then transferred it to a Revo which he has just sold and think he is now planning on an AI for the future.
