Thats right, the getaway has won the prestigious cock of the leven sailing regatta in ulverstone tasmania.Conditions were around 15 knots with a lumpy onshore swell. The boat performed well and pulled away from the other cats very quickly on the reaches finishing second over the line behind the A class cat! Not bad for a boat that was designed for resorts and families,it was also sailed without the resort gear. The handicapper has worked out an Australian yardstick of around 85-86,which seems to suit the boat for most conditions. The Getaway certainly is not to be underestimated when it comes to performance, time to get some racing happening here in Australia.
A good result for the Getaway!

Tasmania's only Getaway sailor. :D

All the getaway needs now is a kite and she will be a tiger trainer!Absolutely stoked with the win!The getaway just keeps hopping over the swell while the other cats are awash with spray and struggling. :D

the other boats crobie were the mosquito cats, there yardstick is 84 here in australia and they are a very fast boat. When conditions are light 8-10 knots with flat water the mozzie performs better as it is a race boat, however when conditions are choppy with wind the getaway comes alive and performs well.Truly a boat not to be underestimated, plus it has a bit to do with the nut behind the tiller.
Still,i am stoked to have done so well! The sailors on the coast are very competitive and experienced,we have the australian b14 champ up there too,so they know what they are doing.Methinks some lessons from darren bundock may help hone my experience.

Tasmania's only getaway sailor.
